The Epicurious Wanderers!

hello Singapore…

It’s great to be back in Singapore, this has to be one of our favourite cities to visit.
Yesterday we clocked up over 20 000 steps just wandering around the place. We’re staying in a new area this time around so had a bit of exploring to get our bearings. We’re at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront on Havelock Road, got a great room on 23rd floor with views back towards Marina Bay.iThe room is very spacious and well appointed although not without a few quirks. We discovered this morning that if you don’t pull the curtains right back past the edge of the wall, that the light sneaks in and glares off the mirror. This makes it feel like you’ve left a light on.

One huge plus though is the free mobile phone, yes free… the room comes with a mobile for use during your stay, it’s a locked down Android handset, so if you’re a dedicated Apple user it may be a bit of a learning curve, but worth it. The hotel blurb says;
Meet Handy, the complimentary mobile phone travel companion that allow guest to stay connected with family, friends and us.
Stay with us to enjoy these benefits:
• Unlimited Local and International Calls*
• Unlimited Mobile Internet
• An Indispensable City Guide
• Exclusive Discounts & Offers
• Hotel Information & Bookings
You just login in with your Facebook details or create a free account with Handy and your ready to go, it will then have access to your contacts etc for phone calls. There is then an app when you check out to wipe all your data, I checked it before setting up the phone and it appears fine. So we have a fully functioning free phone for our stay. The Handy phone is available at the Millennium Group Hotels in Singapore;
• Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore
• Orchard Hotel Singapore
• Copthorne King’s Hotel Singapore
• M Hotel Singapore
• Studio M Hotel Singapore
• M Social Singapore
Definitely a Handy thing to have.

Managed a quick flight with Spark yesterday and today have plans to take him to Chinatown with us. Helen decided to have a Name That Cocktail moment as we strolled along the river.

Today’s plan is to not have a plan, but to see where our stroll takes us…
